Darren and Karla Visser, along with their 3 daughters, are the owners of Voyageurs Point Kennel, a small kennel in northern Minnesota, specializing as a Braque du Bourbonnais breeder.  We were introduced to the Braque du Bourbonnais through intensive research into the pointer breed of dogs.  We have been long time Labrador Retriever owners and at 1 time breeders.  We have loved our many labs over the years but decided to try and find another quality short haired and well-tempered hunting dog that was somewhat smaller than the lab.  Through our research we came upon the Braque du Bourbonnais and were quite impressed with what we read about the dog.  After our research we contacted Cactus Country Kennels and through many discussions decided that the BdB was a dog that we wanted to try.  That is when we purchased our first 2 BdB’s, Cactus Country Tundra and Cactus Country Ukon.  We have not regretted our decision at all and are now in love with the BdB.

Our mission at Voyageurs Pont Kennels is to raise quality dogs with the right temperament and hunting instincts.

We want to provide families and hunters with a quality dog that they will love and adore.  These are great dogs that need to be bred with the highest regard to the standards and attention to quality blood-lines.  Due to the fact that there are not many BdB’s in the United Sates it is vitally important to stay on top of what blood-lines are breeding with which ones.  Part of our mission is to do the research to make sure all of our puppies are being bred from different quality blood-lines to avoid inbreeding and possible health and/or temperament issues later on.

Our guarantee is that we will stand behind our dogs and what we are doing as breeders.

Breeding is not something that you “just do”.  It is an intensive job of researching, educating, and being honest to make sure that quality pups are being born.  With our commitment to quality we will always be willing to take 1 of our dogs back and rehome it if life happens and people just aren’t able to take care of the dog any more.  We do not want any of our dogs to end up in a pound and want to make sure that never happens.
